Set of four large serving spoons in a neorinascimentale/storicista style by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd, dating to circa 1910–1920, in argent‑o‑silvered metal or alloy with ribbed handles and relief figures, each about 9 cm long and 4 cm wide, housed in a period red‑lined box of Irish origin and in like‑new condition.
Description from the seller
Set of four large English serving spoons, neoclassical/stylized Renaissance style, with relief figures and twisted handles, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd, first quarter of the 20th century.
Elegant set consisting of four soup or serving spoons, characterized by refined decorative workmanship. Each spoon features a twisted handle, rich vegetal decorations and relief figures at the ends and near the cup. The piece is kept in an antique box lined inside with red fabric, which pleasingly enhances the objects.
On the back of the handles there are several hallmarks, clearly documented in the photographs. Among them the inscription "GES.CO." appears legible, accompanied by other symbols. The material and exact provenance have not been professionally verified; the lot is therefore offered as silver-plated metal or alloy to be identified.
Indicative dimensions of the bowl of each spoon:
- length about 9 cm;
- maximum width about 4 cm.
