Two large Chinese porcelain plates from the Jiaqing period (c.1750-1800), 247 mm diameter, exported to the West with Western-facing decorations; one plate depicts a sepia-toned view of trees and a manor, the other a central bouquet with an antique frieze, both in excellent condition with minimal wear, provenance from an auction house.

Chinese porcelain exported to the West (probably towards the nascent United States, given the small gold stars placed around the rim of the border, for the one)
The two decorations are Western commissions. no attribute of the Celestial Empire appears here.
ASSIETTE ETOILEE comprises in its center a view of trees and a master's house at the end of the road: in SEPIA color; one will notice the extreme fineness of the star outlines, highlighted by a dotted line, even finer, on the rim of the border: one must almost use a magnifying glass to discern them.....
ASSIETTE EN CAMAÏEU D OR : a central bouquet and a frieze "A L' ANTIQUE" adjoining another band of Greek motifs ..........
