This hand-knotted Kashmir silk rug from India displays a particularly finely worked floral medallion design. At the center of the light inner field is a large, multi-tiered central medallion in turquoise, pink, cream, and various brown tones.

The entire inner field is densely filled with symmetrically arranged blossoms, palmettes, leaves, and flowing vines. Generously designed corner ornaments echo the patterning of the central medallion, creating a harmonious and balanced composition.

A broad dark main border with regularly arranged rosettes and floral ornaments, as well as several fine secondary borders, frame the inner field in a contrasting manner. Cream, turquoise, pink, black, brown, and subdued greens define the elegant color palette.

The fine silk pile produces a subtle sheen depending on the light and beautifully emphasizes the numerous details of the pattern. The rug has been cleaned and, due to its generous size, is ideally suited for living and dining rooms, bedrooms, or as a representative centerpiece of a room.
