Celebrated and rare volume of art published by the prestigious Milanese publishing house Franco Maria Ricci within the series “I segni dell’uomo” (it is No. 32), printed in 5000 numbered copies on special blue-tinted paper (this is copy No. 1056).
The work is a refined selection and an in-depth study of the famous Codex Manesse (the Great Manuscript of Heidelberg), the most important and monumental collection of courtly love lyrics (Minnesang) of medieval German literature. It contains critical essays on troubadour literature and the history of miniatures, and offers a rich selection of lyrics with the original text in German and the Italian translation on the facing page.
