Celebrated and rare volume of art published by the prestigious Milanese publishing house Franco Maria Ricci within the series "I segni dell'uomo" (it's no. 5), printed in 3000 numbered copies on special blueish paper (this is copy no. 1111).
The volume is devoted to the extraordinary artistic production of Erté (Romain de Tirtoff), the undisputed master of Art Deco, celebrating the elegance, the graphics, and the sophisticated imagery that have redefined fashion and the culture of the 20th century. The renowned French semiologist Barthes analyzes Erté's work not as simple illustration, but as a true "language and code of signs".
