Vase - Enamel - China

An elegant pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel vases of pear-shaped form, decorated against a vibrant green ground intricately filled with gilded wirework cloud scrolls. Each vase features heavy gilt-brass elephant mask handles to the neck suspended with loose rings. The main bodies are decorated with large asymmetrical vignettes depicting long-tailed birds perched on stylized blue and white rockwork, surrounded by blossoming branches of pink and blue flora. The neck and spreading foot are further enriched with geometric ruyi-head and floral borders. The interiors and flat bases are finished in a smooth turquoise blue counter-enamel.
