A decorative pair of Dutch mid-century ceramic vessels, dating from around the 1950s, with very different but beautifully complementary forms.
The larger vase is by Velsen, marked underneath with the blue “Velsen Delfts” factory mark. Despite the wording, the piece was not made in Delft; Velsen produced ceramics in Sassenheim during the post-war period. This vase has a particularly clean, modern form with a full spherical body, short neck and softly flared rim, finished in a pale lemon-yellow glaze.
