The Olympus OM30, sold as the OM-F in North America, is one of the more unusual cameras in the OM line. Launched in 1983, it offers aperture-priority automatic exposure in the compact OM body, but its distinction is an in-focus indicator system: paired with the dedicated 35-70mm f/4 AF Zuiko it could trip the shutter automatically the moment the subject came into focus, making it one of the earliest attempts at autofocus in an SLR. Used as a conventional manual-focus camera it is light, quiet and takes the full range of OM-mount Zuiko lenses, and its comparative rarity makes it an interesting body for collectors of the system.

Functional
The shutter-speed display inside the viewfinder does not light up or change — see Known Issues below. Automatic exposure itself works correctly.
Aperture-priority automatic exposure responds correctly to changing light — see the measured shutter figures below (1/1 at 1s, 1/55 at 1/60, 1/782 at 1/1000). Metering measured about +0.9 EV at EV12 and +1.9 EV at EV15.
Film transport, shutter and the self-timer all operate. A battery is required, as the shutter is electronically controlled.
Offered as a body only — no lens is included.

Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- 1 s — measured 1/1 s (on the mark)
- 1/60 — measured 1/55 s (approx. 0.1 stop slow)
- 1/1000 — measured 1/782 s (approx. 0.4 stop slow)
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 0.9 OVER / EV15: 1.9 OVER
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.

Known Issues
1. The shutter-speed display inside the viewfinder does not light up or change. Automatic exposure itself is accurate and the camera exposes correctly, but you cannot read the selected speed while composing. This is the reason for the Good grade.
2. Metering runs bright in strong light — about +1.9 EV at EV15. Negative film absorbs this, but slide film users should compensate.
3. Cosmetic scuffs and scratches from normal use (see photos).

We ship via either FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket), whichever suits the destination and the parcel. With Japan Post your package is handed over to the local postal carrier in your country for final delivery.

Parcels are shipped DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): import VAT and any customs duties are collected by customs or the carrier on delivery, in accordance with the rules of the destination country.
