Description from the seller

Napoleon III Mantel Clock – France – 19th Century
Elegant French mantel clock in Napoleon III style, presumably dating from the second half of the 19th century, about 1860–1890.
The case is made of ebonized wood, enriched with refined decorative inlays and gilded metal elements. Very characteristic are the four twisted columns, with gilded bases and capitals, which give the clock an elegant and dramatic appearance.
The white dial features Roman numerals, shaped hands, and two winding holes. It is surrounded by a rich ornamental gilded frame with floral and scroll motifs.
The clock is fitted with a round French mechanical movement, “Mouvement de Paris,” manually wound, with bell striking. The mechanism is functional and marks the strikes every 30 minutes.
The decorative pendulum in gilded metal is present but has detached from its suspension system, as clearly visible in the photographs. It therefore needs to be remounted; an intervention by a watchmaker or restorer is recommended.
The winding keys are also present as shown in the photographs.
The clock shows normal signs of age, small traces of wear and patina compatible with its age. The photographs are part of the description and show in detail the condition.
Dimensions: approximately 43 × 22 × 12 cm
Weight: approximately 2.3 kg
Movement: manual-wind mechanical
Chimes: bell, strikes every 30 minutes
Materials: ebonized wood, gilded metal, brass, enamel
Estimated period: second half of the 19th century
Country of origin: France
Style: Napoleon III
Beautiful antique piece, ideal for both collectors of antique timepieces and as a refined decorative element.
