Description from the seller

Black cloth boards with silver stamped lettering. Glossy black and BW-illustrated dust jacket with beige and white lettering. Mainly illustrations in BW. "Terence Donovan's name has dominated the fashion pages of the world's glossy magazines since the heady days of the sixties. Over the years, he has declined many offers to publish collections of his work, but this. he says, is the one book he has always wanted to create." Arguably the finest collection of Donovan's nudes, and a landmark in the imagery of Swinging London.

Glances is a 1983 photography book by legendary British fashion photographer Terence Donovan, featuring a collection of over 70 black-and-white erotic images that explore women's sexuality. Unlike standard retrospective anthologies, Donovan conceptualized the book as a creative recreation of "evasive images" that briefly flashed before his eyes throughout his career—moments that escaped his camera lens but remained trapped in his memory.

The book spans 152 pages and consists of startling, unpredictable, and risque black-and-white photography. Donovan focused heavily on capturing glimpses of female sensuality rather than conventional, highly staged fashion shoots.

The images are accompanied by a non-linear text with a distinct stream-of-consciousness feel. Published by Michael Joseph in November 1983, Glances was only the second of three books Donovan published during his lifetime. It revisited the stylistic and idiosyncratic approach of his rare 1964 booklet, Women Throooo the Eyes of a Smudger.
