Technics SB-7 Honeycomb Disc Speaker System – Pair of vintage Hi-Fi speakers Made in Japan

For sale: an original pair of Technics SB-7 Honeycomb Disc Speaker System, manufactured in Japan by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and belonging to the prestigious Honeycomb Disc series, among Technics' most interesting achievements in high fidelity from the late 1970s to the early 1980s.

The SB-7 are 3-way 8 Ω speakers, characterized by the use of the famous Honeycomb Disc technology, developed by Technics to obtain membranes that are extremely rigid and light. The woofer and midrange diaphragms are made with a sophisticated aluminum honeycomb sandwich structure (Honeycomb), inspired by aerospace panels: a solution designed to reduce resonances and deformations, improving precision, dynamics and transient response.

The system uses a 30 cm Honeycomb Disc woofer, a Honeycomb Disc midrange, and a refined rectangular ribbon tweeter (Ribbon Tweeter), a rare solution highly appreciated by audiophiles for its fast response and the naturalness of the high-frequency range.

The speakers also retain the original controls for adjusting mid and high frequencies and the integrated Technics protection circuit, elements that attest to the high design quality of the series.

This pair has always belonged to my private collection and has been used exclusively in a domestic environment. The speakers are completely original and have never been repaired, modified or tampered with.

The cosmetic condition is very good, with slight and physiological signs of time compatible with age. Original labels, serial numbers and all original construction elements are present.

Due to a move to another city, the last functioning test dates back to about a year ago, when both speakers were found to be perfectly functional. It is currently not possible to repeat the test, as I no longer have a compatible Hi-Fi system. For fairness to buyers, this circumstance is expressly stated.
