Description from the seller
Rare smoking set, designed by Jan Ulrich for RIO, model 301, all clearly marked (monogram JU).
The design is evidently inspired by Bauhaus and is thus one of the few models that represents such a high level of design quality. Comparable to the best designers at WMF, but much less well known.
Jan Ulrich worked for RIO from 1920-1935, and his designs show influences of the Amsterdam School, Art Deco, and in this case more toward Bauhaus.
The larger vase (height 9.5 cm) has two small dents (the last two photos) and all three objects show signs of use, but otherwise it is a quite decent set. Probably there was also a leaf/plate that belonged with it, but that has disappeared. Despite that and the two dents, a rare and distinctive set.
