Description from the seller
Refined serving cart and bar cart with floral bouquet marquetry, a superb example of Italian artisanal cabinetmaking from the mid-twentieth century.
Sophisticated, beautiful in appearance and form, it features a two-level, sinuous and fluid architecture with polylobed perimeter profiles, finished with a beautiful black ebonized edging that creates a sophisticated color contrast with the warm tones of the wood.
The two shelves, connected by four slender solid-wood columns finely turned on a bobbin, host in the center two splendid multicolored floral bouquets framed by geometric reserves with vegetal scrolls and inlaid leaves.
The upper tray is equipped with a substantial ergonomic handle in torchon-turned wood, supported by heavy gilt-brass arms finely chiselled in relief with geometric motifs and acanthus scrolls. An elegant perimeter balustrade in polished brass encircles the edge to ensure the stability of objects during service.
The lower level is enriched by a practical three-compartment bottle holder in pierced/brushed brass, firmly anchored to the structure. The base rests on four large swiveling wheels original to the period in gilt metal, finished with a rubber-edged perimeter saver to protect floors.
The original protective lacquer is beautifully preserved and retains a mirror-like shine free of hazing, enhancing the sharpness of the inlays. The structural joints of the columns and ebonized profiles show no fissures. The brass components retain their original gilding with a subtle and captivating patina of time. The four swiveling wheels are intact and fully functional.
Ideal focal element to enrich a contemporary living room, a design lounge corner, or to give a touch of sophisticated vintage elegance to your entertaining moments.
