Altrömisch Kaiserreich marble bust, Marmorkopf, in white marble, standing about 16 cm high with a head of about 8 cm, dating to the 1st–2nd century AD, authentic/original, acquired in 2026 from an auction house in France.

Small marble head, youthful and beardless, with a cap-like hairstyle. Across the forehead, parallel carved, combed strands, the calotte as a tangible mass of curls. Eyes almond-shaped with a heavy upper lid, smooth and without an iris or pupil borehole. Small mouth with sharply incised angles, cheeks laid flat.
These features – combed forelock, flat face, and unpierced eyes – are stylistically comparable to Gallic-Roman heads of the 1st–2nd century AD.
Dimensions: head approx. 8 cm, total height with presentation plinth approx. 16 cm
Material: white marble
Condition: Break at the neck, with a modern bore there for the mounting pin. Back of the head and calotte significantly weathered, with a sugary grain texture and brownish discolorations; the face better preserved – an conservation state as it occurs with unilateral ground support. Nose worn. No identifiable restorations or overpaintings.
