Description from the seller
Natural Blue Sapphire with Muscovite Matrix – Badakhshan, Afghanistan
A rare and highly attractive natural Sapphire specimen with Muscovite matrix, originating from Badakhshan, Afghanistan. This impressive cabinet-sized specimen combines a prominent blue Sapphire crystal with a richly textured mica matrix, creating a striking natural mineral display.
The specimen has a substantial weight of 370 grams and measures approximately 111 × 67 × 40 mm. The front is dominated by a large, naturally terminated Sapphire crystal, which is surrounded by numerous smaller Sapphire crystals embedded throughout the Muscovite matrix. The combination of the blue Sapphire crystals and shimmering mica produces an exceptional natural contrast.
The main Sapphire crystal retains its natural termination and crystal form, while the numerous smaller crystals distributed across the matrix add considerable visual interest and demonstrate the natural growth environment of the specimen.
Another excellent feature is its self-standing form, allowing it to be displayed easily from different angles without requiring a special stand. The natural blue colour of the Sapphire is clearly visible, making this an especially appealing specimen for collectors of Afghan minerals.
Specimens combining Sapphire crystals with Muscovite from Badakhshan are relatively uncommon, particularly examples with a prominent terminated crystal and abundant associated crystals. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for collectors looking for an unusual and visually impressive Afghan Sapphire specimen.
