Description from the seller
GOBELIN TAPESTRY, Tapestry Technique, 18th Century Motif, Germany.
Beautiful German wall tapestry Gobelin tapestry in Rococo style – Jacquard wall tapestry in Aubusson style. Tapestry with graceful landscape scene.
Large decorative Gobelin / wall tapestry – hunt scene in Rococo style
Very decorative, beautifully woven Gobelin wall tapestry with a detailed depiction of a princely hunting scene in the French Rococo style of the 18th century. The motif shows elegantly dressed hunters accompanied by hounds in an idealized park-like landscape with trees, a river landscape in the background – a classic scene after historical models, as typical for European tapestries.
A manufactory for high-quality Gobelin and wall tapestry goods, often produced in a classical style. Many pieces are offered as decorative wall hanging textiles, produced with high technical quality.
The Gobelin was produced on Jacquard looms, which can be seen in the uniform weave structure, high detail resolution, and precise color gradients. The color palette is harmonious and subdued (beige, green, blue, ocher, and rose tones) and underscores the piece's classical character. The fine weave allows a clear rendering of faces, clothing, landscape elements, and movement, without harsh transitions.
The border features a classic floral ornament that underlines the elegant overall impression.
Usage:
As a wall hanging, decorative textile for living or representative rooms, hunting rooms, classical interiors, or collectors of decorative textile art. Whether as wall decoration, a collector's piece, or a classic accent in a historic interior – this wall tapestry embodies the French art of the 18th century in a charming way and brings an atmosphere of elegance and nostalgia into any room.
Color Gradations
The transitions in skin tones, fabrics, and shadows arise from many small color changes; here you see classic color modeling.
Colors and clothing: The pastel tones and the fashion of the figures (ruffles, bodices, knee breeches) clearly point to the 18th century. Technique: the format, the border, and the suspension loops; Composition: the flowing lines, the playful elegance, and the background with a park landscape; such scenes, often with rural-romantic or amorous motifs, are characteristic of French Rococo tapestries.
Contours & lines
Face, hands, legs appear soft and lively
Hanging: Integrated loops for wall mounting
