Pull Toy Horse / Antique papier-mâché & plaster Pull Toy – France/Germany, mid-20th century (c. 1940-1950)

Materials: Papier-mâché / composition (or plaster on a frame), metal frame and axles, hard plastic/bakelite or hardened rubber wheels, mane and tail made of natural fibers (hemp/jute).
Condition: Used / As found (Visible signs of age, original patina).
Charming antique pull-along horse (Toy Horse / Pull Toy)
Antique pull-along horse on a metal frame with wheels, dating from the 1940s-1950s. This type of popular toy was very widespread in mid-20th-century Europe (France/Germany).
Design & Details:
Body molded from papier-mâché / hand-painted composition.
Lovely original polychrome paint scheme in shades of gray, black, and white with details painted in red (hooves, ears, bridle, halter).
Expressive painted eyes.
Original tail and mane made of natural fibers.
Mounted on a rigid wire/metal frame connecting four solid wheels.
Condition:
The toy is entirely in its original condition, giving it a superb vintage patina.
It shows signs of wear, with paint and filler chips in places (particularly on the muzzle, rump, and upper thighs — see detailed photos).
The frame and wheels are complete and functional.
