Elegant example of Thonet production, this rocking chair perfectly embodies the technical and aesthetic revolution introduced by the Viennese company through the steam-bent wood technique, a method that marked the history of design from the late 19th to the early 20th century.

The frame, made of solid bent beech, stands out for the refined succession of sinuous lines and volutes that define the armrests, sides, and rocking base. The harmony of the curves, achieved through the innovative process of bending wood, gives the whole piece extraordinary visual lightness while maintaining great structural solidity.

The tall backrest and the seat are finished in braided Vienna straw, a natural material that adds elegance, comfort, and brightness to the ensemble. The specimen preserves a pleasant original patina, with the natural signs of time that attest to its authenticity. The Vienna straw is overall well preserved, while the frame shows light superficial wear compatible with its age. There are also period restorations at the ends of the armrests, carried out in a stable and respectful manner of the piece’s integrity.
