Arteluce - Gino Sarfatti - Table lamp - Metal

Table lamp model 600/P, designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1966 and manufactured by Arteluce, the historic Milanese company founded by Sarfatti himself in 1939.

The 600/P is one of the most original projects in Sarfatti's exploration of orienting light through extremely simple and functional solutions. Instead of a traditional rigid base, the lamp rests on a stitched leather spherical bag filled with small metal spheres: the weight and shape of the base allow the lamp to assume different tilts simply by shifting its center of gravity.

The body and the characteristic reflector are made of cream-colored lacquered aluminum, with a compact and sinuous form that integrates the structure, diffuser, and orientation mechanism into a single small object.

Presented in Arteluce's 1966 catalog, the 600/P was also exhibited at the XIV Milan Triennale in 1968, testament to the model's significance within Italian production of the era.

The pieces retain the original Arteluce label, visible on the body of the lamp. The pair shows signs of time and use, particularly evident on the coverings of the bases, which preserve their original patina.

An essential yet ingenious project, perfectly representative of Gino Sarfatti's approach, one of the absolute protagonists of Italian lighting design of the 20th century.
