Description from the seller

Vase Christofle « Forme Poisson » – Collections Historiques – Grand modèle 33,5 cm

I am offering for sale this remarkable Christofle vase “Forme Poisson,” an emblematic sculptural piece from the prestigious Historical Collections of the Christofle House.

Originally designed by Émile Reiber in 1874, this model is inspired by a Japanese bronze vase from the late Edo period. It testifies to the influence of Japonism on French decorative arts of the 19th century and to the exceptional know-how of Christofle.

Made in patinated silvered metal using a particularly demanding technique, this vase is conceived in solid cast metal, in one piece and without any assembly. The finely worked details, notably the eyes, the scales and the fins, give it a unique presence and character.

Part vase, part sculpture, and a true work of art, this majestic piece will naturally find its place in refined interior decor.
