An impressive 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicting Christ Pantocrator (The Lord Almighty), one of the most important representations in Orthodox Christian art.
The sacred image is mounted on a wooden panel and covered with a richly embossed, gold-coloured metal oklad, decorated with geometric and religious motifs. Christ is depicted blessing with his right hand while holding the open Gospel in his left hand. Traditional Church Slavonic inscriptions are visible on the icon.
The reverse is covered with aged fabric. The icon shows authentic signs of age and devotional use, including surface wear, oxidation, scratches and small losses to the gold-coloured finish. These natural traces enhance its historical character.
