Islamic glass flacon with honeycomb relief diamonds, 84 × 75 × 75 mm, translucent yellowish glass and a spherical body, dating to the 8th–11th century AD and of Iranian origin, previously from a French collection and acquired from an auction house in Germany, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Translucent yellowish glass bottle with a spherical body, horizontal shoulder, and a rounded base with a concave and slightly domed bottom. The entire body features a molded relief diamond décor, arranged in a lattice pattern on three rows and achieved by blowing into a mold. Four small protrusions are present on the lower part of the body, from which lines radiate toward the center of the base. The upper part of the body is accented by a horizontal rim encircling the glass at the base of the shoulder. The wide cylindrical neck retains, in places, a fine dark glass thread applied hot into a helical groove. It terminates with a straight, cut, slightly softened lip. Relatively heavy and with thick walls, this glass retains partial traces of golden iridescence as well as fine black particles imprisoned in its mass.
