Set of 12 brass bed terminals, dating to 1900–1910, Italian origin, with argent/ nickel finish, each 6 cm deep, 6 cm wide and 18 cm high, in antique style.
Description from the seller
An attractive and substantial set of 12 decorative terminals in nickel-plated/silvered brass that, with wear and time, have oxidized to a characteristic dark gray-silver, lived-in patina.
The hand engraving and chasing of the background (with that distinctive granular, ridged effect that makes the raised scrolls stand out) indicate a high-quality artisanal craftsmanship.
Each terminal is built in two interlocking sections (snap-fit and screw-fit pieces), the main globular base and the upper crown element, characterized by rich whirligig-like motifs and hand-embossed volutes on a ridged background.
Style/Origin: Decorative salvage elements from an antique bed dating to the late 1800s/early 1900s of Italian artisanal manufacture.
Conditions: Good overall condition considering the era. They show a beautiful original patina of time, with surface wear to the plating that attest to their authenticity and confer a strong aesthetic impact of “shabby chic” / industrial. As these are objects fully worked and finished by hand, they present small and fascinating mutual asymmetries.
