Digsmed Design Denmark, attributed to Flemming Digsmed, presents a large sculptural teak bowl, model 201, dating from the 1960s, in Danish Modern/Scandinavian design, with a 31.5 cm diameter, 12 cm height and a weight of 2118 g.
Description from the seller
Digsmed Design Denmark – attributed to Flemming Digsmed – large sculptural teak bowl – presumably model 201 – 1960s
Description
For the lover of authentic Scandinavian mid-century design: a particularly beautiful and imposing teak bowl from Digsmed Design Denmark, dating from the 1960s.
Designer: attributed to Flemming Digsmed
This large Danish bowl is crafted from carefully joined segments of teak (staved teak). Through this construction, a beautiful rhythm of different wood grains and color nuances emerges all around. The chunky, rounded wall and broad soft rim give the bowl a pronounced sculptural form that is characteristic of the best Danish wood design from this period.
The underside features the original inlaid green metal medallion with “DIGSMED DESIGN – Denmark” and the characteristic Viking helmet logo.
Model 201
In terms of shape and dimensions, this piece closely corresponds to documented Digsmed model 201 bowls. Known examples of model 201 have the same solid, bulbous form and a height of about 12–13 cm. Because this piece’s label itself does not show a visible model number, it is offered as model 201 in accordance with documented examples.
The bowl is not only functional as a large fruit or salad bowl, but due to its size, weight, and beautiful teak texture, it is also particularly decorative as a standalone design object.
Maker: Digsmed Design
Origin: Denmark
Model: 201, in accordance with documented specimens
Period: 1960s
Style: Danish Modern / Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern
Material: teak, composed of multiple wood segments
Marking: original inlaid Digsmed Design Denmark medallion
Dimensions:
Height: 12 cm
Diameter: 31.5 cm

Condition:
Nice vintage condition with the usual light signs of use and aging that are to be expected from an authentic wooden object of about sixty years old. The natural grain and warm color of the teak come out particularly beautifully. See the photos for a good impression of the condition.
An attractive and increasingly hard-to-find example of Danish wood design from the 1960s, where especially the large size, sculptural form, and the remaining original Digsmed medallion make this piece interesting for collectors of Scandinavian Design.
