Description from the seller

Vive le sex is a rare 1970 photography monograph created by the prominent German nude photographer Ica Vilander and published by Praesentverlag Heinz Peter in Germany. Ica Vilander (1921–2013), an influential experimental and erotic photographer.

The book is highly regarded by collector circles as a striking artifact of the late 1960s and early 1970s counter-culture era. It consists of classic black-and-white nude and erotic photography. True to Vilander's style and the era, it blends psychedelic themes, experimental layouts, and a celebration of sexual liberation. During this period, Vilander was widely celebrated for portraying sensuality from an independent, liberated female perspective. She lived closely with hippie communities, and Vive le sex reflects that era's free-love philosophy and subversion of traditional societal norms.

The book captures the shifting social attitudes toward the body and sexuality at the turn of the 1970s. It features expressive, stylized nude and figure photography, strongly reflective of late-1960s and early-1970s counterculture and psychedelic visual art styles, utilizing creative framing, light, and naturalistic presentation of models. It follows a series of similar photographic explorations by Vilander from that decade, such as Akt Apart (1967) and La femme vue par une femme (1967), aligning with a progressive, female-driven perspective on nudity and liberation during the sexual revolution.

This copy with small tear at upper left edge of dust-jacket. Loose binding. Otherwise pages in very good condition.
