Specimen: sauropod dinosaur fragment (epiphysis) from the Late Cretaceous, conserved with Paraloid B-72 and in natural condition.
Description from the seller
Sauropod Long Bone Articular End (Epiphysis) – High Density and Preservation – Consolidated with Paraloid B-72 – 2.85 kg
Ref: S-003
Impressive anatomical fragment corresponding to the articular epiphysis or head of a long bone (likely ulna/tibia) belonging to a large Sauropod dinosaur. The piece exceptionally preserves the flaring and rough surface characteristic of the cartilage and articular insertion zones, showing a thick, massive morphology designed to withstand the enormous weight loads of these Cretaceous giants.
On the exposed surface the porous texture and mineralized density typical of authentic fossil bone are clearly visible.
Conservation and Treatment:
The fossil has been treated and consolidated entirely with Paraloid B-72 (neutral, museum-grade reversible acrylic resin). This treatment stabilizes the surface against erosion or detachment, provides physical stability to the whole, and enhances the natural tonal contrasts of the patina without altering its original matte appearance.
Includes a sturdy custom-made heavy iron stand with engraved plate, offering a vertical gallery-style presentation that is very striking.
Details of the specimen:
Type: Articular End (epiphysis / head of a long bone).
Taxonomy: Dinosauria – Sauropoda.
Age: Late Cretaceous (approximately 95 million years).
Origin: North Africa.
Treatment: Structurally consolidated with Paraloid B-72.
Accessories: Includes a custom-made heavy iron stand + Original Gift Certificate / Certificate of Authenticity from "JoyasFosiles".
Dimensions and Weight:
Fossil measurements: 24 x 16 cm.
Fossil weight: 2,848 grams (2.85 kg).
Stand: Custom solid iron base.
