Description from the seller
Elegant and captivating antique table vanity mirror (psyche) dating to the first half of the twentieth century. The object features a refined and unusual construction, where the lower part consists of two side storage drawers connected by a solid central wooden crosspiece, entirely turned into baluster form. The upper body houses an oval mirror, framed by an embossed brass border worked in relief with geometric beading patterns highlighted in gold. The mirror is topped by an elegant acroter or upper crest, pierced in brass with three stylized leaves (palmette) and volute curls, assembled using contemporaneous small cylindrical nuts and original threaded pins. On either side of the mirror stand two shaped arms integrated with metal candlestick terminals, originally intended to illuminate the face during grooming. The overall finish marries the dark, ebonized wood with the warm brilliance of gold brass, giving the lot a strong scenic impact in Liberty/Eclectic style. An ideal piece for upscale interior decor, collectors of antique mirrors, or enthusiasts of modern memorabilia.
