Magnificent cigarette case in 875 sterling silver, attributable to the Soviet Union, dating from the 1940s–1950s. The lid is decorated with a fine engraving of the Sochi Arboretum (Дендрарий), depicting its emblematic classic pavilion surrounded by subtropical vegetation and accompanied by the original Cyrillic inscription «Сочи – Дендрарий».

This piece reflects the tradition of high-quality Soviet metalwork, whose production preserved many of the techniques, proportions, and artisanal standards developed by the silversmiths of Imperial Russia. The finish quality, engraving precision, and excellent execution make this cigarette case reminiscent of the best works of pre-revolutionary Russian silverware.

The interior retains its original gilding (vermeil), intended to protect the silver and better preserve its contents. It also retains the original inner elastic bands.

It presents the corresponding Soviet contrasts, including the 875 silver hallmark, the worker’s head, a feature of mid-20th-century Soviet silverware, and the manufacturer’s mark.
