Description from the seller
Silver articulated fish – Spain – second half of the 20th century
Magnificent silver articulated fish, created by master Spanish silversmiths during the second half of the 20th century. It is a piece of extraordinary artistic and technical quality, conceived as a decorative collectible object.
Its body is made up of numerous articulated links that reproduce with great realism the natural movement of a fish.
Each scale has been worked individually by chiseling and engraving, while the fins, tail and head show an exceptional level of detail. The eyes are adorned with red cabochons, adding expressiveness and elegance to the whole.
Pieces like this required many hours of work, all completely handmade. The complexity of its manufacture required the intervention of highly specialized goldsmiths, capable of assembling each segment while preserving the flexibility and harmony of the design.
Today, a work of this level would be extremely costly to produce due to the high number of manual hours it demands, which is why it has virtually disappeared from contemporary production.
Spanish silversmithing achieved extraordinary international prestige during the 20th century, being recognized in numerous exhibitions and competitions for the quality of its designs and the excellence of its execution. This articulated fish faithfully represents that artisanal tradition and constitutes an excellent piece for collectors of artistic silver.
