Portuguese 925 silver miniature box with black enamel, dating to the 1950s, measuring 3.5 × 3 × 1 cm and weighing 14 g, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant and uncommon Portuguese little box made of 925 sterling silver, small in size with careful artisanal craftsmanship.
The piece features an attractive rectangular shape with chamfered corners and a front clasp.
The lid is decorated with a deep, glossy black enamel, on which a silver relief ornamental motif stands out, creating an elegant contrast between the deep black of the enamel and the shine of the metal.
The box opens via a rear hinge and retains its closing mechanism. The interior is also made of silver and presents a simple, functional construction.
Due to its reduced dimensions, this type of piece could be used as a pocket pillbox, a small jewelry box, a container for storing tiny personal objects, mementos, amulets, or other sentimental items of value. Today it also serves as an attractive collectible object within European small silverware.
The piece bears Portuguese hallmarks and a silversmith’s mark visible on the body. 925/1000 sterling silver.
