Lot of antique carved wooden decorative elements – friezes, volutes and a decorative shelf – in the historicist style. The stated dimensions reflect respectively the height of the tallest object, the width of the widest object, and the depth of the deepest object.

Description

An interesting set of finely carved antique/vintage decorative elements, characterized by rich ornamentation of scrolls, leaves and botanical motifs. The lot shows a strong historicist imprint and may be particularly interesting for collectors, restorers, antique dealers, or as material for the recovery and completion of furniture, frames or architectural elements.

From the photographs the lot appears to consist of four separate elements, different in shape and decorative function:

* a large, horizontally developed, symmetrical frieze, richly carved with opposing scrolls, foliate motifs and a central shaped element;
* a smaller carved piece also featuring a metal hinge/pin, which may originally have been associated with a movable part of a piece of furniture or a decorative structure;
* a long, asymmetric scroll frieze with a broad “C” motif and botanical development, ending with carved leaves. On the back/surface a small metal eyelet is also visible;
* a small shelf or ornamental supporting element, more elaborately worked, with botanical motifs and a figurative decoration at the top reminiscent of a mascaron or stylized face.

The larger elements seem to be made of dark carved wood, with a very deep brown tone and a patina consistent with age.
