Most Holy Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus, in a variant of Russian Orthodox iconography.

Identification

The Mother of God crowned with the Child Jesus (Theotokos)

The enthroned Virgin, with a large crown.
The Child Jesus, also crowned, seated on her left arm.
The Child performs with his right hand the traditional blessing gesture.
The inscriptions, though very worn, seem to correspond to the usual abbreviations:
ΜΡ ΘΥ (Μήτηρ Θεοῦ): Mother of God.
IC XC: Jesus Christ.

Due to its composition and especially due to the Western-style crowns, this is a Russian representation of the Mother of God crowned, possibly related to models of Marian icons occidentalized (Westernized) spread in Russia between the 18th and 19th centuries.
