Large Delftware dish – De Drie Klokken – c. 1720–1760

Very fine and large Delft tin-glaze dish with a diameter of 34 cm, made at the pottery De Drie Klokken in Delft. The dish is richly painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glaze ground and is a handsome example of high-quality Delft faience from the first half of the 18th century.

The central decoration shows a stylized flower or fruit bowl with a fan motif, surrounded by a wide rim with alternating large floral ornaments and geometric panels. The composition is clearly inspired by Chinese Kangxi porcelain, which at the time served as a model for many Delft potters.

The back bears the mark of De Drie Klokken, one of the well-known Delft pottery firms from the 18th century.

Condition
The dish is in good antique condition, with no restorations. Only light edge wear and normal signs of use and age, entirely in keeping with the age. The glaze has a beautiful authentic appearance.
