magnificent and authentic set of cup weights (also called the Nuremberg or Charlemagne weight set) in solid brass/bronze. This collectible item is fully complete, equipped with all its original cups that snap together with perfect precision inside the main housing. Total weight: 496 grams (which historically corresponds to the original metric pound of 500g). Era: Early 19th century (transitional period of Weights and Measures, circa 1812-1839). Historical markings: The lid bears the official "M" mark (Metric/Measures), as well as the hand-engraved sequence of digits 1, 4, 5 and its small balance-control mark on the closure button. Condition: Superb aesthetic and functional state. The original hinged clasp opens and closes perfectly. Very beautiful antique patina.
