Beautiful antique piano stool, crafted in dark solid wood and featuring a particularly handsome and decorative base.
The stool has a round, height-adjustable seat, allowing the sitting height to be easily adjusted. The raise/adjustment is accomplished by means of the original central screw mechanism.
The piano stool is equipped with the original upholstered seat, with a nicely shaped wooden rim around it. The base has three elegantly curved legs that flare into decorative feet, matching the classical design of the stool.
Notably is the original shop-/manufacturer label on the underside, which reads:

This makes the stool clearly traceable to the Rotterdam musical instrument trade of J. Zijlman. Such an original designation is an attractive addition for collectors and enthusiasts of historic musical instruments and furniture. J. Zijlman was a well-known manufacturer and trader of pianos, organs and other musical instruments, located at Hoogstraat 36 in Rotterdam. The business was founded around 1900 and was active at least into the deep 1920s at this address. The location: The historic Hoogstraat was largely destroyed during the Rotterdam bombardment on 14 May 1940. The original Zijlman shop has therefore long ceased to exist.
The stool is in good, used antique condition, with visible signs of aging and use that fit its age. The wood has a warm, time-worn patina. The underside shows a slight whitish haze, consistent with age and the original finish. This is preserved as a visible sign of aging.
Adjustable from 53 to 64 cm / seat diameter 38 cm / weight 6.3 kg.
