Bergeon No. 5500 – Watchmaker's lever press on yokes – Swiss Made – Box/Case
A precision watchmaking press from the famous Swiss firm Bergeon, model No. 5500, designed especially for fitting and securing watch crystals using appropriate matrices.
The set includes the metal lever press, as well as an assortment of metal matrices of different diameters, kept on their wooden support. The accessories bear the markings “BERGEON N° 5500” and dimension indications. A matrix of a particular shape and several smaller ancillary parts are also present.
The press bears the marking “BERGEON No 5500”. Under the mechanism are the inscriptions “Swiss Made” and the number 16.8885.
The set is presented in its wooden case, equipped with a plaque “VERLUX – La transparence du cristal”.
Dating: second half of the 20th century, probably the 1960s–1980s, subject to confirmation by an era Bergeon catalogue.
Condition: a fine vintage set showing signs of use, some marks and light superficial oxidation. The case also shows signs of wear. Functionality has not been tested in workshop conditions. The completeness of the matrices and accessories has not been verified.
