Description from the seller

Description: Beautiful horn-shaped scalloped dish. The dish was designed by Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) for Christofle in the 1960s.

Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) was an Italian goldsmith and designer. Self-taught, he pursued a training in metalworking in a copper factory. In 1955 he moved to Milan, where he established his own workshop. There he met Gio Ponti, who helped him gain international recognition, notably by exhibiting his creations in Paris. Thanks to this growing reputation, he was artistic director at Christofle from 1956 to 1963. He designed everyday objects with a minimalist aesthetic for the famous goldsmith house. In 1964 he founded his own factory, Argenteria Sabattini, in Bregnano (Lombardy). Today his works are exhibited in prestigious institutions such as MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
