This hand-knotted Ghoum Kashmir carpet shows an elaborately designed palace and garden scene. The light central field is shaped by architectural columns, domes and a central Tree of Life motif. Numerous animals, birds, flowers, trees and decorative vessels enrich the detailed portrayal.

Particularly striking are the peacocks in the upper area and the symmetrically arranged animal and plant motifs. A wide, dark-ground border with densely worked flowers, vines and birds frames the light field in a striking contrast. Cream, dark blue, apricot, brown, green and delicate pink tones form a harmonious color palette.

The fine silk pile on a cotton warp provides a subtle sheen and makes the colors appear differently depending on the light. Due to its decorative design, the rug is especially suitable for living rooms and bedrooms, representative areas, or as an artful wall hanging.
