This hand-knotted Chinese silk rug has an elegant oval shape and features a decorative floral and butterfly design. On a light background, several botanically styled branches, leaves and butterflies are arranged in an open, asymmetrical pattern.

A subtly drawn ornamental border follows the oval shape and harmoniously frames the interior field. Cream, beige, golden-brown, old pink, green and muted blue define the restrained color palette. The long silk fringes around the edges emphasize the exceptional design.

The silk pile on silk warp has a characteristic sheen, causing the color effect to change depending on light incidence and viewing direction.
