Vase, ceramic, Cizhou kilns, China, Song dynasty style. Plum-shaped ceramic Meiping vase with cream-colored slip on a light-brown-gray shard, on which the surrounding decor is rendered in black-brown engobe in the shape of a three-clawed dragon in front of white clouds, pursuing a flaming pearl, a motif set over a broad band of stylized lotus blossoms at the foot, and crowned at the top by a wide stylized wave border on the flat shoulder, contours and details in sgraffito technique by the upper black engobe.
