Description from the seller
A decorative Tibetan/Himalayan mixed-metal ritual ewer, probably dating to the early 20th century.
The vessel is constructed with a polished copper body enriched with brass and silver-coloured metal mounts, featuring an elaborate dragon-form handle, a curved spout issuing from a stylised makara mask, and applied dragon plaques to the body. The neck and cover are further decorated with repoussé floral and geometric ornament, with a pointed lotus-bud finial connected by its retaining chain.
The contrasting copper and pale-metal decoration gives the ewer a striking ceremonial appearance characteristic of Himalayan decorative metalwork.
Condition:
Overall in excellent condition, with only minor surface wear, chain is loose, cover inner rim slightly misses shape, patination and oxidation consistent with age.
Size:
Height 30.5cm
