Mesh bag made in French silver - Signed.

It bears the mark of Alphonse Debain, a prestigious Parisian goldsmith who was active between 1883 and 1911. He was internationally renowned, winning a gold medal at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition. His pieces, often in styles such as Empire or Art Nouveau, are highly valued today by collectors.

The frame features a very refined embossed decoration with floral motifs, characteristic of the decorative style at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

This type of silver mesh bags were fashionable accessories very popular among the bourgeoisie and European elite from the late 19th century through the 1920s and 1930s.

They are delicate pieces that combine the functionality of a ladies’ accessory with the technical mastery of French high jewelry (haute orfèvrerie).
