Description from the seller
**Elegant Napoléon III period mirror in carved and gilded wood, boasting a characteristic dynamic form of the Louis XV or Rocaille style, highly sought after during the Second Empire.
The frame stands out for the quality of its full wood carving, adorned with sinuous moldings, volutes and acanthus scrolls. It is topped with a superbly carved pediment featuring a stylized shell and ends in the lower part with small curved console feet. The gilding presents a very beautiful luminous patina with light signs of time that highlight its authenticity and history.
The back of the mirror also bears witness to an old, careful manufacture, with its original parqueted backing in horizontal boards of raw wood, characteristic of fine woodworking techniques from the 19th century.
