Four antique Dutch Delft blue-and-white tiles – figures and landscapes – 18th/early 19th century

Decorative collection of four antique Dutch blue-and-white tiles, presumably produced in the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century.

The tiles are hand-painted in cobalt blue on white tin-glaze. The motifs consist of a rider on horseback, a fisherman at the water's edge with boats, a landscape with buildings, and a river/harbor scene with a sailing ship. All subjects are set within a double circle and feature blue corner ornaments.

The tiles differ slightly in size, painting style, and glaze color. They are therefore probably from different productions or periods.

Thickness: approximately 7–8 mm

Condition:

The tiles are in an antique, used condition with aging and wear. Present are, among others, craquelure, edge and glaze damage, discolorations and superficial wear. The rider tile shows clearly visible glaze loss on the top and bottom edges. On the tile with the fisherman there appears to be a hairline crack from the bottom edge.
