Single hollowed compartment in solid wood, ideal for storing documents, books, or valuable objects. Metal hinges fixed with screws.
Top and front panels veneered with brass slats driven with nails (as seen on the exterior), simulating the structure of the grand Oriental dowry chests.
Upper mechanical lock with articulated metal tongue and a recessed escutcheon on the front face.
Good structural condition. Shows normal signs of use, patina, and slight wear to the wood consistent with the piece’s age.
