Brionvega - Television - RARE Algol 3 12" Orange

Absolute icon of Italian industrial design, we present the famous Brionvega Algol 3 portable television in its splendid and highly sought-after Lobster Orange color.

Designed in 1964 by the partnership between:
- Marco Zanuso (1916–2001): Father of Italian design and winner of 5 Compasso d'Oro. He was a pioneer in the use of plastic materials (such as ABS) applied to mass industrial production.
- Richard Sapper (1932–2015): German design genius with 10 Compasso d'Oro in his career. Famous for combining technical precision, pure geometries, and witty or moving details (he also designed the Tizio lamp for Artemide).

Algol is famous worldwide for its tilted screen (designed to be viewed even when placed on the ground) and for its distinctive retractable metal handle. This 12-inch model perfectly embodies the Space Age spirit and is exhibited in the most important art and design museums, including MoMA in New York.

In 1970, Brionvega won the Compasso d'Oro for Career for its overall production. The official citation praised the company for having collaborated with the best Italian designers and for the very high cultural value of icons like the Radio Cubo and Algol itself.

The housing is in good preserved condition, with glossy plastic and bright black details. Normal signs of wear that attest to its authenticity.
As visible in the photograph, the cathode ray tube lights up and shows the classic analog "snow" effect.
The original power cord/power supply is NOT included in the sale. For photographic testing, a laboratory power supply was used.
