Brush pot - Porcelain

A fine Chinese blue and white porcelain cylindrical brush pot (bitong), dating from the Transitional period to the early Kangxi reign, mid–late 17th century. Painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a continuous naturalistic scene of birds amongst flowering branches, foliage and rockwork, beneath a softly toned bluish-white glaze.

Condition:
Excellent condition. A small firing flaw to the unglazed foot rim and minor water staining to the interior, otherwise very well preserved.
