Guéridon living-room side table in Transition style – Geometric inlay and bronzes – 20th century
​Description:
Refined living-room side table / guéridon (table en chiffonière or guéridon) in Transition Louis XV / Louis XVI style, made in the first half of the 20th century. The piece stands out for its elegant slender silhouette and the high quality of the marquetry craftsmanship.
​The oval top and the front drawer are entirely decorated with a precious geometric herringbone inlay (parquet motif), bordered by fillets in contrasting noble woods. The perimeter of the top is enriched by a pierced brass gallery.
​The four serpentine legs, typical of the Louis XV style, support a practical lower bean-shaped shelf, also finely inlaid. The piece is enhanced by decorative appliques and a splendid handle in gilded and burnished bronze.
