A hand‑woven textile wall hanging in Bauhaus style, inspired by Kandinsky's 1930 Launisch, produced in Türkiye, measuring 92 cm high by 93 cm wide with a 4 cm depth, made of wool and silk, and bearing the visible KANDINSKY signature in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
It depicts a tapestry (textile wall hanging) that is a faithful reproduction of the Bauhaus-era painting "Launisch" (Whimsical) by the famous Russian abstract painter Wassily Kandinsky, painted in 1930.
The "KANDINSKY" signature is clearly visible in the lower right corner of the rug.
Key features of the piece
Main work: Launisch (Whimsical / Humeurig), 1930. The original oil painting is in the collection of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
Type: Hand-knotted or woven tapestry/wall hanging (often made from a blend of silk and cotton or fine wool).
Design: It has a black hanging rod and cord attached to the top for easy wall hanging, and a decorative tassel at the bottom.
This tapestry was made in Turkey. Pieces like this one and others like it were made by the Turkish Carpet Weavers Association or local manufactories and weavers in the second half of the 20th century (typically in the 1960s, 70s or 80s).
The rug is in good condition, I like the glue used to attach the fringe, which is why I bought it.
We can post it carefully packaged, in an insured, registered package.
