Description from the seller
Technics RS-671 – features
Year of manufacture: approx. 1976–1978
Made in Japan
2-head deck: recording/playback + erase head
Dolby B
Suitable for Normal (Type I) and CrO₂ (Type II)
Front-loading with the characteristic folding loading mechanism
Analog VU meters
Memory stop
Manual selection of tape type/equalization
Frequency response up to about 18 kHz with CrO₂
Wow & flutter: about 0.063%
Signal-to-noise ratio: 62 dB with Dolby
Dimensions: 41 × 14 × 33 cm
Weight: no less than 9.4 kg
It is primarily a very sturdily built deck with a distinctive mechanism. On units several decades old, cords, capstan, idler, and switches are the main points of attention.
Value today
Prices vary quite a bit depending on condition and maintenance:
Condition Indicative value
Not tested / defective €50–100
Working, normal condition €120–180
Very good condition, fully working €180–250
Revised/maintained €250–350+
Very nice example / professional overhaul €300–400+
This unit is in perfect condition and was very recently renovated for €160 excluding VAT. So it is not an attic find but a perfectly maintained device. (see photo)
For comparison: a working unit was recently offered in the Netherlands for €199, while a very nice example in Belgium at Catawiki was estimated around €220. An excellently restored unit recently sold for €290.
It is shipped very well packed and insured. I pay for the insurance.
